Richard D. Zanuck was an Oscars winning producer known as a directors producer, and Hollywood royalty as the son of Darryl F. Zanuck (one of the three founding partners of Fox Studios). He was a greatly admired producer among his peers who fought to protect projects he championed, and the studios relied upon to meet challenges no one else could match. Steven Spielberg attributed all he learned as a producer to be from Richard Zanuck. He worked with some of the finest directors (many of whom are clients) making groundbreaking pictures like Jaws with Spielberg, Ron Howard's Cocoon, Bruce Beresford's Driving Miss Daisy, Sidney Lumet's The Verdict, Walter Hill's Sting, Sam Mendes' Road to Perdition, among too many others to list, some of which were done with his partnership with David Brown (who was married to Helen Gurley Brown of Cosmopolitan magazine and book Sex And The Single Girl fame), and later with his wife Lilli Fini Zanuck who also developed projects with her husband. More recently he worked with Tim Burton to bring Alice In Wonderland, which grossed 1B. With Burton he worked on six projects, including Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and Planet of the Apes. Mr. Zanuck leaves a remarkable legacy of pictures that audiences love and continue to watch worldwide. We will miss him and his unerringly good taste.
